About Us

To see currently available soaps for sale see our For Sale page .

We've played around making soaps for ourselves and as gifts for the past few years.  We're now finally offering soap for sale from the farm on a regular basis and you can also purchase our soaps from Green Earth Grocery in Edwardsville, IL and Highland Farmer's Market, Highland, IL during the market season.

We use mostly goat milk for the liquid in all of the soap recipes that we make because goat milk is a creamy emollient which soothes and softens skin.

The goat milk used in our soap comes from our own goats that we hand-milk.

The soap that we make is made in small batches so that we can maintain a high-quality product.  We use own own created recipes that incorporate high amounts of olive oil and other natural emollient additives like beeswax from a local bee keeper and natural cocoa butter.

We hand-cut and even bevel the edges of each and every bar of soap.  We choose to cut the bars in a more narrow and chunky size because we find that they fit nicely in hand.  Since we hand-cut the bars, each one is unique and has it’s own character.  After hand-cutting we then bevel the edges to make using the soap nice and comfortable (no more putting up with hard edges until the bar gets broken in!).

We use natural products including natural colorings and essential oils instead of chemical fragrances and chemical dyes.  Every once-in-a-great-while we will make a recipe that uses either a cosmetic grade coloring or chemical fragrances, but when we do, it will be stated clearly in the description and on the label.  Using chemical colorings and fragrances is the exception, not the rule for our soaps, but sometimes we get special requests for fragrances or colors that there isn't an essential oil or natural coloring for.

Having family members that have chemical sensitivities has made us more aware of a need for high-quality unscented products that also look colorful and pretty, not just white!  Therefore we offer unscented but naturally colored soaps too.

Our soaps are full-body soaps meaning that they can be used for shampoo as well as body soap!   We take extra care to make sure that our soaps will not burn or be irritating to even the most sensitive skin.  Handmade soaps are more conditioning than store-bought soaps and we've had many people tell us that they quit using so much lotion once they started using our soaps.

We are always open to your suggestions and comments.  We are constantly trying new natural colorings and scents (essential oil blends) for our soaps.  Since we make our soap in small batches, our inventory is always changing.  E-mail us for a current soap list.  If you have a favorite scent, or an idea that is not already one of the recipes we make, let us know!  We just might give it a try!

Goats are mentioned many times in the Bible.  They were used for offerings, meat, clothing, temple curtains, pillows  and milk.  (The types of goats that are used for their fiber are Angora and Cashmere.

"Then Gideon went in and prepared a young goat and unleavened bread from an ephah of flour; he put the meat in a basket and the broth in a pot, and brought {them} out to him under the oak  and presented {them.}" Judges 6:19

"And there will be goats' milk enough for your food, for the food of your household, and sustenance for your maidens". Proverbs 27:27

"All the women who were willing used their skills to spin and weave the goat hair into cloth". Exodus 35:26

"Go now to the flock and bring me two choice young goats from there, that I may prepare them {as} a savory dish for your father, such as he loves." Genesis 27:9

"He shall take the two goats and present them before the LORD at the doorway of the tent of meeting." Leviticus 16:5
